Mpesa charges considerations

I am sure you know that Mpesa does not charge fixed amounts for all transactions. You should, therefore, note that Mpesa charges are mainly affected by the amount you are moving.

  • Generally, the more the amount in question, the more charges and fees you are going to pay and the vice versa.
  • To make everything a whole lot easier for you, make sure you are a registered Mpesa user. You can register at your nearest Mpesa agent.
  • You should not pay anything when depositing money at an agent. This is because Mpesa deposits are Zero-rated.
  • It is free to buy Credit or bundles for a Safaricom line from Mpesa.
  • Buying airtime or bundles for other networks from Mpesa may incur you some facilitation cost.
  • The daily Mpesa limit you can send is Ksh. 140,000
  • Each transaction should not exceed Ksh. 70000
  • Your Mpesa account can only hold a maximum amount of Ksh. 100,000
  • It is more expensive to transact using an unregistered Safaricom line
  • The minimum withdrawal from a Mpesa Agent is Ksh.50
  • You must have a valid National ID card while transacting at any Mpesa Agent
  • You cannot deposit money to another Mpesa account that does not belong to you.

What you need to register for Mpesa

Mpesa registration is a straightforward process and the only thing you need to do is present yourself at the Mpesa Agent with your Safaricom Line and your National ID card.

Important | NHIF paybill number for paying your monthly contributions

If you do not have your ID, the following documents are also accepted: Diplomatic ID, Passport, Military ID, or Alien ID/Foreigner Certificate.
