Cyber attacks are becoming more common – and they could include compromising your Facebook account.

You need a plan to secure your account from hackers, phishing scams, malicious software, and other threats.

It is important to keep your Facebook account secure. As more and more Kenyans online are relying on Facebook as a primary source of information and a social circle, your Facebook account can be used as a weapon by people.

Consider these tips to keep you safer.
  1. Change your password to something more complicated or secure (but make sure you note it somewhere).
  2. Go to ''Profile and Tagging'' section on Settings and ''Turn on Review Taggings''. This way, no one will post sensitive or rather irrelevant content on your timeline without your consent.

  3. Avoid logging into your Facebook account using multiple devices. When you do, make sure you log out and remove your account from that device. ( DON'T DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT 😁)
  4. Stop liking pages and following groups that are deemed irrelevant to you. Don't touch the "like" or "follow" button. Otherwise, these annoying notifications will keep popping up relentlessly. What you don't know is that Facebook's algorithms use what you've been liking most to recommend pages and groups on your timeline. So, why don't you let sleeping dogs lie? Just leave them!
  5. Block 'primitive and immoral' Facebook users. Sadly, some people think Facebook is a place to throw anything in the air. All these guys posting nonsense should not even appear anywhere on your account. Unfriend/Block 'em for good.
  6. Don't add friends anyhow-ONLY add people who you know are authentic. Or you'll fall prey to perennial con artists who throng social media 24/7 looking for unsuspecting prey to devour!
Otherwise, Happy Connection family. Despite all this, Facebook has done more good than harm. Just learn how to secure your Facebook account for your peace of mind.
